Spruce Grove was settled by French and Scottish families in 1891 and originally comprised a general store, livery stables, blacksmith shop, hotel and the Roman Catholic Church. In 1908 the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway came through establishing the community as a busy grain-trading center. Spruce Grove is about 15 minutes west of Edmonton on Highway 16A.
The Town of Stony Plain is a vibrant and growing community that cherishes its past. Located 17 kilometres west of Edmonton on Highway 16A, the Town of Stony Plain demonstrates a pride in its history that began in 1881 with the arrival of the first homestead and has kept a pictorial record of events on various buildings in town - known as the mural walk.
Visual Arts in St. Albert finds its roots in 1966 when the St. Albert Arts & Craft Guild was formed. The guild was comprised of potters, weavers, painters, textile and metal workers from the St. Albert and surrounding area, located about 20 minutes north of Edmonton.
