THE CIRCLE and a bit TOUR
Alberta
We
couldn't call this a CIRCLE tour because we kind of went outside of the
lines. The traditional circle tour for tourism in Alberta is the
Calgary Edmonton Jasper Banff loop. But if you are touring
independently there are so many one hour side treks off the usual loop -
we just had to include some.
This
tour takes you on a suggested 14 day round of the south and west corner of
the province. As with each of our suggested
tours we recommend that you check out the individual towns with the
Muse Cruise cross references too. The top left corner of each page
has the map - click on the province and then the town listing...enjoy.
DAY
1 – CALGARY
After arriving in Calgary, take a break and book your room in one of the
Heritage homes we have chosen for you.
Bags secured? Lets
go down to the Eau Claire Market or Art Central and have a nice healthy
lunch. While sitting why
not call one of the dinner theatre venues centrally located downtown.
Until dinner the 40+ galleries and art studios in Art Central
will surely keep you busy. Or
perhaps you would prefer to check out the Glenbow Museum – although
that could make you late for dinner!
If it is Friday Saturday or Sunday take in the Calgary
Farmers Market, a little entertainment, a little food - maybe stock
up on treats for eating on the road. Better stay in Calgary in for two days. Dinner and a show – and
the day is over.
DAY 2 – CALGARY
Begin your day with a visit to the European Wellness Centre on
Meredith Road NE just north of the river. Then
its back to the touring – did you get to the Eau Claire Market?
Just across the river and up the hill you will find two of
Canada’s top arts instruction institutes – the Alberta College of
Art and Design and the Mount Royal Conservatory of Music.
They both offer excellent places to see the next generation of
Canadian artists. Maybe
tonight would be time to relax at the Opera…if you stayed at Westways
B&B you could see the end of the day with a ride in a Rolls.
