Day 6 and 7
|
DAY 6,7 EDMONTON If
you stayed on the ranch last night then you are just rolling into
Edmonton this morning. About
45 kilometres south of Edmonton, in Wetaskawin, is the Reynolds
Museum. A nice little sidetrek before heading into the city.
Coming
north into the city would put you right into the Old Strathcona Whyte Avenue district
not a bad place to find something tasty for lunch.
And home to the wonderful Bee Bell
Bakery, I suggest you buy a
bag of stoneground donuts for munching!
Hey they are stoneground they are good for you! Depending
on the time of summer you have a few choices to make stay in the
University area to be close to the Fringe.
Stay in the old RiverCity area to be close to Klondike Days.
Stay in the 124th Street area for City Centre.
Wherever you stay be sure to book ahead and plan to stay two or
three days. Little
sidetreks you might consider are the Stony Plain Cowboy Poetry Gathering
if its on or an afternoon walk around the charming little artistic
community of St Albert. If the pace gets too hectic take a stroll on the many paths along the river, or relax in the Muttart Conservatory, wander around the Ukrainian Heritage Village or Fort Edmonton Park. For
a real treat we like to unwind at Devonian
Botanic Garden that is
located 30 minutes from downtown Edmonton. The Garden includes an
authentic Japanese Garden, floral gardens, and ecological
reserves. It is over 80 acres of gardens connected to 110 acres of
natural areas! Refreshed and ready for a night in the city? A must do in Edmonton would be an evening at the Winspear Centre one of the Worlds top acoustically mastered theatres.
