THE CIRCLE and a bit TOUR

DAY 12, 13 – HEADING EAST

Don’t be too eager to get back to the airport.  Stop off in Bragg Creek and check out the artists and studios.  First Nations artists and a good old Alberta dinner at the Steak Pit can ease you back into the cruising mode.  The Steak Pit has accomodation too - stay in their funky little condos.  On Saturday mornings during the summer check out the Millarville Farmers Market for fresh food, artisans and more - Alberta's largest outdoor market!

The Merchants of Millarville! Fresh berries, food, and puppets - oh my!

If you have a few more days head south of Bragg Creek into Kananaskis Country and east to Fort McLeod, home to the RCMP Museum and the Empress Theatre, for a glimpse of Alberta Heritage.  This also puts you very close to Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump, an amazing First Nations Interpretive Centre.

And for a real finale to the day head for Waterton to wake up in the mountains again.  Check out the Waterton Movie Theatre, where the stage was once host to Vaudeville actors.  The worn burgundy velvet seats and drapes are sure to evoke memories of a time before Cineplex!   The Willock and Sax Gallery is a must see if you have driven this far.

Hungry?  Stop at the Twin Butte General Store and Restaurant, just 25 km north of Waterton, for great Mexican food.

DAY 14 -  COMPLETING THE CIRCLE

That’s a lot of driving.  Hopefully you stopped and smelled the wild roses along the way.  Of course Alberta has thousands of picnic stops and campsites, but the Muse Cruise was created to show you the other Alberta Culture.  Everyone knows about the Cowboys and the Mountains and the Oil – what often gets overlooked is the wealth of arts.

And “Talking about art is like dancing about architecture” Anon

We developed the Muse Cruise because you have to experience it!
