"My work is both abstract and symbolic. I work with painting as a process always beginning without a pre-conceived idea and going where the painting takes me. Over the years, a visual language of form, colour, gesture and symbol has arisen. I have learned to recognize this visual language and thereby establish a dialogue with my psyche which circumvents the intellect. This language has grown while retaining certain forms consistently since I first began painting in 1975." Jenny Clark

My relationship with the mountains, the sea and the prairies is fundamental to my life and my work. Victoria, when I was a child, had many green spaces and I spent my childhood sneaking up on muskrats in Bowker Creek and combing the beaches that were within a bicycle ride of home. Many animals have shared my life and they have always figured as sentient others who contribute endlessly to my well-being and understanding of the world.
